Dr. Aggarwal describes how the Cultural Formulation Interview (CFI) can be used to teach providers skills to better understand and communicate with their patients/clients. Dr. Aggarwal describes how the these skills are essential for providing culturally competent and patient-centered care. The CFI is a clinical tool in the DSM-V that helps providers assess an individual's cultural identity and apply that information to their mental health treatment.
